Ride the coastline in comfort as we explore towering waves, coastal legends and medieval charms! From world-record surf in Nazaré to the winding stone streets of the historic Óbidos… this is Portugal’s central coast beyond the postcards.
Departure at 9am, for about 2 hours till Nazaré beach town, popular for the big waves, friendly people and dry fish. Private hotel pickup in Lisbon followed by a scenic drive to Portugal’s Silver Coast. This is an opportunity to meet us and talk about this unique experience.

Located along Portugal’s stunning coastline, Nazaré is a hidden gem that beautifully combines rich cultural heritage, world-class surf, and delectable local cuisine. Whether you’re drawn by the legendary waves, the ancient fishing traditions, or the charm of its historic landmarks, Nazaré promises an unforgettable experience.

Walk down to visit the Lighthouse located on the top of the cliff on the side of Praia do Norte, see signed big-wave surfboards from record-breaking rides, a science room showing how the North Canyon works and a photo/video exhibition plus going to the rooftop from where it’s possible watch for surfers paddling or being towed into massive swells when conditions allow.

From the lighthouse we’ll walk up to take in dramatic views from Sitio, the clifftop neighborhood overlooking Nazaré’s beach and town, visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazareth dating back to the 14th century, this Marian shrine commemorates an ancient miracle involving the Virgin Mary. The site offers not only spiritual significance but also one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Nazaré and its surrounding coastline. It’s also home to the Ermida da Memória chapel, where the legend of a nobleman’s horse miraculously stopped from plunging over the cliff can still be relived.

After will be time to enjoy a relaxed seafood lunch at a traditional restaurant right by the sea. From olives, cheese, bread including cornbread, to the main dish of a fresh grilled fish as sea bass, sea bream or sardines, other good local option is the Polvo à Lagareiro (octopus with garlic and olive oil) and the bouillabaisse, with wine and water, ending with a coffee. No visit to Nazaré is complete without indulging in the town’s fresh seafood and local cuisine.

After leave Nazaré beach town it will be time to move south to Óbidos, walking and getting to know the streets inside the medieval castle. Óbidos Castle is thought to have Roman origins. It was later fortified under Arab rule. After its conquest by the Christians (1148), it was repaired and expanded several times. During the reign of King Manuel I, the mayor ordered the construction of a palace and some alterations to the castle.
The Mayor’s Palace features beautiful Manueline windows opening onto the courtyard. The Palace suffered severe damage in the 1755 earthquake. By the 20th century, it was in complete ruin and was restored to house the Pousada (the state’s first inn in a historic building).

Wrap up with a tasting of Ginja de Óbidos, the region’s famous sour cherry liqueur served in a chocolate cup. This experience combines of the most important product and an event from Óbidos. The Ginja de Óbidos of the best-known liqueurs in Portugal, made from fermented sour cherry, soaked in brandy, sugar and cinnamon sticks. The chocolate cup comes from the local known Chocolate Festival organized every year in the village.

Drive back to Lisbon meeting point to drop off at 6pm.
